# Taking the assessment

> What to expect during the StudyHQ career-fit assessment — the start screen and timer, the sections and questions, pausing and resuming, and auto-submit.

> The assessment maps your aptitudes and how you work. There are **no right or
> wrong answers** — answer honestly and you'll get the most accurate result.

## The start screen

When you begin, you'll see a short intro and, if your institution set a time
limit, a **time badge** (e.g. *"⏱ 38 minutes"*). The screen is branded with your
institution's logo.

Tap **Start** when you're ready. A quiet space with no interruptions works best —
you can't use notes or help, but you **can pause and come back**.

## How it's structured

The assessment is split into a few **sections**, each with a short intro telling
you what it covers and roughly how long it takes. Sections include reasoning and
aptitude questions (multiple-choice) and work-style questions answered on a simple
**Strongly disagree → Strongly agree** scale.

#### One question at a time

A clear progress bar shows how far you are, e.g. *"12 of 38"*.

#### Move at your pace

Use **Back**, **Next**, and **Skip** to navigate. Your answers save as you go.

## The timer

#### It counts down

If your assessment is timed, a countdown shows the time left. It turns **red**
in the final minutes.

#### Pausing pauses the clock

Tap **Pause** to stop — your progress and your remaining time are saved. Resume
later and the clock picks up where it left off.

#### Auto-submit at zero

If the timer reaches zero, the assessment **submits automatically** with the
answers you've given.

> **Submitting is final.** Once you submit, your assessment is scored and your
> report is generated — check your answers before you finish.

## Pausing and resuming

Tap **Pause** any time and choose **Pause & exit** to leave. When you come back —
from the dashboard or your link — you'll see **Resume assessment** and continue
from your last unanswered question.

## Finishing

When you've answered everything, you'll reach a short summary and a **See your
results** button. Submitting takes you to your **career report**.
